Intersex Asia launches Annual Report 2020 on its fourth anniversary

Intersex Asia celebrates 10th February as the foundation day. To mark the celebration of the foundation day, we are releasing the Annual Report for the year 2020.

The publication of the annual report always serves as an occasion for reflection. The year 2020 was particularly a turbulent year for the organisation and the movement at large as we struggled to thrive during the pandemic. The challenges posed by the pandemic tested our resilience and as well the strength of our foundation. While we were compelled to adapt, we are delighted to share that we remained focused on our focus area.

In 2020, we reached several important milestones in terms of our organisational development with the organisation of our first-ever General Meeting as well as adopting the new Strategic Plan to direct our activities in the coming three years. The pandemic also gave us an opportunity to look inward and improve our internal governance mechanisms. As a consequence, we developed a comprehensive governance manual which At the programmatic level, we had to reorient our focus and prioritise providing emergency support to intersex people who were affected on account of the pandemic.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all those who support us and the intersex human rights movement in Asia. We are indebted to all the partner organisations at the national, regional and international levels for their guidance and technical support in a challenging year.

As we enter the fifth year of our existence, we hope that we’ll continue to work on our mission with your support and hope to have your guidance as we grow institutionally and as a movement.
