Call for Submissions
Intersex Asia invites intersex people and allies in Asia and beyond to submit artwork for “My Story, My Canvas”, a year-long program spotlighting the diversity and depth of intersex experiences. We encourage you to use YOUR creativity—through painting, sculpture, photography, video, writing, or music—to share your story.
Selected works will be featured quarterly in our online gallery and may be included in future physical exhibitions and community art books.
1. Program Overview
- Goal: To empower intersex individuals and allies to express their lived experiences through art.
- Who can submit?
- Media accepted:
- Painting, drawing, illustration, digital art, sculpture, mixed media.
- Photography, video art (max 5 minutes), poetry, short prose, audio, music, and more.
- Language: Submissions in any Asian language or English are welcome (please provide a translation for caption or summary if possible ).
2. Themes
We encourage participants to freely choose their theme to tell stories on aspects of intersex life—identity, mental health, family, social perceptions, and beyond.
3. How to Submit
Step 1: Think about with your theme or story
Step 2: Prepare Your Artwork
- Artwork must be your original work.
- For video or audio: upload to a cloud service (Google Drive/Dropbox) and share the link.
- For text (such as poem, short story): max 1000 words.
Step 3: Write Your Artist Statement
Briefly describe (max 250 words):
- What inspired you?
- What story or feeling do you want to convey?

Step 5: Submit!
You will receive an email confirmation after submission.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
5. Selection & Curation
- Every quarter, submitted artworks will be included in the online gallery, taking into account diversity, resonance with the theme, and creative impact.
- After 12 months, finalists will be chosen for the annual art book.
- All submissions will remain in our digital archive (with your consent) to amplify your story.
