Strategic Plan

Based in Taiwan, Intersex is a regional network of intersex-led organizations and individuals from Asian countries that work to support, educate, and advocate for the rights and lives of intersex individuals and raise awareness of human rights violations and discrimination faced by intersex communities.

Strategic Plan 1Intersex Asia is proud to announce the launch of its Strategic Plan for 2025 to 2029. Besides the original three goals:

1) building intersex communities and organizations in Asia,

2) promoting policy change for protecting intersex rights in Asia

3) Improving the support to intersex children and intersex people in risk

This comprehensive strategy introduces three additional goals to its previous plan:

4) strengthening the organization’s sustainability,

5) fostering cross-movement collaborations,

and 6) actively contributing to the development of the global intersex movement.

Furthermore, the scope of its work has been expanded to encompass seven key areas: Capacity Building, Awareness Raising, Network Building, Research, Advocacy, Community Building, and Cross-Movement Building. This plan reflects Intersex Asia’s commitment to advancing its mission and creating a meaningful impact within and beyond the intersex community.

Strategic Plan 2019 - 2023

Intersex Asia aims to uphold the values of Intersex Individuals/ community members: Love, Diversity, Family, Unity, Respect, and Understanding. In 2019, the organization launched its strategic plan that outlined its objectives, priorities, and initiatives for the five-year period from 2019 to 2023. This strategic plan objectives are related to the following key themes: Capacity Strengthening forIntersex Community members; Strengthening partnership and collaboration with existing partners and networks; Supporting intersex Activists for national advocacy and related initiatives; Increasing educational awareness and visibility about Intersex; Establishing a regional database and Develop wellness training package. Overall, this plan served as a roadmap for the organization’s future development and growth, research and development, operational efficiency, and sustainability efforts. 

Some achievement highlights guided by the Strategic Plan 2019 to 2023 

  • Continued with the fellowship program, which strengthened the capacity of the Intersex Individuals in a few countries in Asia. (Should include the name of the country) 
  • Conducted research and developed a comprehensive research report on Intersex Justice for The Philippines; Nepal; India; and Bangladesh. (Need to check these countries name) 
  • Continued providing emergency funds to intersex individuals affected by floods in India to help them purchase essential aid.
