Empowering Uniqueness: Intersex Asia’s Organizational Development Initiative That Breaks All Molds!
Intersex Asia has started the Organizational Development (OD) project for our member organizations, focusing on leadership development, organizational sustainability, and organizational policy, development, and others
Through dedicated effort, Intersex Asia has embarked on an inspiring journey with the Organizational Development (OD) initiative/ project for our member organizations. Focusing on vital core areas such as leadership development, organizational sustainability, and organizational policy, development, and other core areas, this initiative empowers intersex-led organizations to rise above their unique challenges and thrive.
Amidst this inspiring journey, Intersex Asia’s member organizations, Intersex Philippines (IXPI) in the Philippines and the Campaign for Change (CfC) in Nepal, have been granted essential funding from Intersex Asia, enabling them to advance their initiatives and support the intersex community effectively in their respective countries
For Intersex Philippines, the impact of OD support has been profound. The OD funding has allowed them to offer critical salary support to their staff, ensuring stability within the organization during challenging times. Furthermore, this assistance has facilitated stronger relationships with key stakeholders, particularly in the realm of drafting legislative proposals aimed at advancing intersex rights. Additionally, the support has spurred improvements in overall governance within the organization by enhancing structures and processes that help them serve their community more effectively and efficiently.
Jeff Cagandahan from Intersex Philippines says, “Thanks to Intersex Asia for the OD initiative, highlighting how this project has provided invaluable insights and empowered Intersex Philippines to navigate complex changes, ensuring our organization stays on track and achieves their goals despite the challenges”.
In Nepal, the OD grant has been a remarkable resource for the Campaign for Change, enabling them to launch empowering programs, such as national gatherings for intersex individuals and their families. They have provided training in advocacy, leadership, wellbeing, and psycho-social counseling, significantly raising awareness of intersex issues. The grant has been instrumental in their growth and in strengthening the intersex movement in Nepal. A key focus has been on building the team’s leadership and operational skills through various training sessions, fostering unity, boosting confidence, and developing a robust second line of leadership.
Esan Regmi from Campaign for Change shares, “The project illuminated the profound impact of building strong local partnerships and networks among intersex individuals and their families, proving essential in navigating the support system and seizing opportunities at the grassroots level.
The OD Initiative has truly been a remarkable journey of transformation. Looking ahead to 2025, Intersex Asia is committed to continuing its support for member organizations through the OD grant. Our goal is to ensure their sustainability and empower them to thrive in their important work. Together, we can make a difference and foster a brighter future for all involved.
