Madras High Court tells Tamil Nadu govt to decide quota for transgender, intersex persons. The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to take a decision on reservation for transgender and intersex persons, so that they need not knock the doors of the court every time, seeking a quota in public employment and in educational institutions.

Canadian Embassy backs national ‘INTERSEX’ advocacy in the Philippines. With strong support from the Embassy of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), Intersex Philippines has launched a landmark national advocacy project, I.N.T.E.R.S.E.X.: Informing the Nation, Transforming Engagement, and Raising Support for Equality and eXistence.

Asian Development Bank urged to uphold LGBTQ, intersex rights commitments. APCOM and the Asian Development Bank hosted the 3rd Asian Development Bank Learning Week in the Philippine capital of Manila from Sept. 8-9. The meeting brought together LGBTQ and intersex activists, civil society organizations, and human rights defenders from Asia and the Pacific to engage with bank management on development that is LGBTQ and intersex-inclusive. The ASEAN SOGIE Caucus, ILGA Asia, Intersex Asia, and the Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network co-organized the event.

Hongkong

Hong Kong has proposed limited legal recognition for same-sex couples. Hong Kong politicians will consider a proposal to recognise medical-related rights for same-sex couples. It would apply to adult couples with a valid overseas marriage or civil union, where at least one person was a Hong Kong resident.
