Nepal forms Ministry for Gender and Sexual Minorities. Nepal has, for the first time, established a ministry explicitly recognising sexual minorities, as the country continues its march toward liberal policies for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTIQ) community. The new government, led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, explicitly included ‘Gender and Sexual Minorities’ in the name and mandate of a ministry during the administrative restructuring of federal ministries.

NHRC seeks inclusion of distinct categories like ‘Intersex’
‘Transmen’ & ‘Transwomen’ in upcoming Census. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the govt to consider including distinct categories such as ‘Intersex, ‘Transmen’ and ‘Transwomen’ in Census 2027. In an advisory on ensuring the welfare of transgender persons issued last week, the Commission has also asked the govt to reconsider changes made to the definition of transgender persons under recent Amendments to the law, which have been challenged through multiple petitions in the Supreme Court.

Intersex Philippines, in partnership with the Pasig City Gender and Development (GAD) Department, successfully conducted the Intersex Awareness Caravan in Pasig City—a meaningful gathering that brought together stakeholders, health advocates, academe representatives, and human rights advocates committed to advancing intersex awareness and inclusion.
